Hey everyone. It's James Lindsay. You are listening to New Discourse's Bullets, where I give a short bullet point-like summary of a single topic from Woke that we need to understand so we can beat it.

This topic is coming from The Woke Right.

It is not actually a topic relevant to Woke specifically.

It is a narrative that is driven by bad actors on the Woke Right.

And it kind of gets driven in two different ways.

That narrative has to do with this question, are the Jews God's chosen people?

One way is to just hold this against the Jews as though Jews see themselves as somehow special,

greater than everyone else in a kind of sarcastic, nagging sort of way is how the narrative is pushed.

God's chosen people this, God's chosen people that,

and then they juxtapose that against something bad or gross or nasty or whatever

to try to insult that idea. And some others actually push a different line that the church

has replaced Israel, and therefore that Catholics or Christians are God's chosen people now and specifically not Jews.

And there's a ton to unpack getting into that. I have to offer a disclaimer. Disclamers aren't

really my style, but I do want to be accurate and sensitive. I am going to, as we might say, goysplain this. I am not

Jewish. I am a Gentile, as it were. I am outside of their tradition. I am outside of their thought.

I am not the best person to explain this. I am new to these explanations. But I feel like it needs to be said,

and it needs to be said by somebody who is outside of this

so that it can be heard. And so there's actually a lot going on is what does this chosen people

mean? What have they been chosen to do? And how are they chosen? Are kind of all questions

aside from those two narratives. And so, like I said,

there's a ton going on here. So the first thing is, how do the Jews see themselves as chosen if they

do? So a lot of Jews do understand themselves as God's chosen people. But what they see themselves
