Dads, what are they good for? Absolutely nothing. At least according to certain people, right?

You see this is kind of a popular mantra anymore. Like, what do we even really need men for?

And again, I get that it's kind of part of this girl boss form of feminism of like having kids without the man or raising kids without the man because after all,

you're a strong woman and can slay and the whole deal.

And let's face it, dads are just deadbeats anyways, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

And the thing is, is anybody that's going to tell me, well, Nick, that's a caricature.

Nobody really believes that, okay, go look at how fathers are predictive or how fathers

are portrayed in popular sitcoms,

how they're portrayed in cartoons, they're idiots, they're buffoons, they're deadbeats,

they're absent, right?

Dads just are treated as if they're superfluous at best and a main source of the problem at worst. And let's all, let's all acknowledge

that there are deadbeat dads. There's horrible dads out there, all right? But there's a lot of

other dads that are either doing their best or doing a really good job. And the whole question is,

is that, okay, how important are they? Because we are living at a time with probably the most fatherlessness in modern history, right?

I don't think we've experienced this much fatherlessness in society without a major world war

famine or something else wiping out a significant portion of the male population. In fact,

nowadays, fatherlessness is not just a question of deadbeat dads or war or disease or something

else. Now it's a matter of policy. And today on this episode, we're going to be asking the question,

how important are fathers? Is it true that the nuclear family

can essentially be replaced and that fathers just don't play that important role in society? Or

are they even more critical than we previously thought that they were? We're going to be discussing
