Hey guys, it's Rachel and this is a quick word on negative emotions.

Alright, I have spent most of my adult life trying to fix myself.

Fixed myself and I think I've gotten pretty good at it.

I identify a problem that I have or something that I don't like and I start doing research.

I read books and I listen to podcasts and I watch YouTube videos and I learn from teachers.

I do everything I can to unpack a specific area of my life and figure out what I can do to make it better.

This is me for as long as I can remember and it's been really effective.

It's been really helpful. It's why I am the person that's talking to you right now.

But the older I get and the more therapy I do, the more I've come to understand that when you identify a feeling or an emotion inside of you as something wrong,

it doesn't actually make it better.

You can absolutely figure out processes and systems and habits that will increase your functionality for lack of a better word.

You can learn better ways to do things. I actually think the first part of my evolution as a conscious adult came in the form of figuring out systems.

How can I navigate around the anxiety? How can I create habits that are healthy for me instead of hurtful?

I think there's all about a system and a process. If you look at my early work in this space, there are all systems and processes mixed with a fair amount of humor and jokes.

I hope lightheartedness to make the whole thing feel a whole lot better.

I think the next phase or understanding in becoming whoever I'm becoming is about recognizing that no part of you, no feeling, no emotion is inherently bad.

They might not feel good to experience anger, anxiety, sadness. Those things don't feel good, but they're actually a really important piece of who we are.

I think for the longest time, I have done everything in my power to not experience those emotions fully because as a little kid, the adults in my life seem to be trapped by those negative emotions.

The adults in my life might be trapped by anxiety or sadness into deep depression. They seem to be trapped by anger, flying into rages, and all of those things as a little kid made me feel very unsafe.

I think I began to associate those emotions as something hurtful because I was being hurt by people who seem to be ruled by that.

The older I get, and the more I learn, and the more therapy I do, and the more meditation I do, the more all of it I do.
