| 0:00.0 | I don't know what you should do, Mike. |
| 0:02.6 | I think I'd rather take a bullet in the head. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes. I don't know what to say. The Beyond Dumb 2 to 6 show, right? Jackpot! 985, the Sports Hub. So that was Team President Rich Gotham last night, Celtics team president, Rich Gotham, with Adam Jones. And, you know, they're talking about being the number one seat in the East and that he said, well, it's a 50-win plateau that really sets you apart. Did you agree with that? No. No, I don't. I mean, no, when you say set you apart, like to be championship caliber? Yeah, from what? Well, just, you heard the comment. No, no, I don't. You know, to me, what sets you apart in that league, frankly, it's a 60-win plateau. This is the problem, because not many teams can get there. And so once you get over 60, now, and most times you're a championship-caliber team. The one exception, of course, is the Atlanta Hawks. But another story for another day. |
| 0:57.6 | So, you know, 50 wins means you've got a pretty decent team. |
| 0:59.1 | Pretty decent team. |
| 1:01.8 | But championship, different area again. |
| 1:05.1 | No, and I would say this is especially true in the East. |
| 1:09.0 | Where the conference is weak, you can pad numbers there. |
| 1:11.5 | And, you know, so you can get 50 wins. |
| 1:13.4 | And I just don't think it means a ton. |
| 1:14.6 | Murray, what do you get for 50 wins? |
| 1:15.3 | Nothing. |
| 1:16.4 | It doesn't mean anything. |
| 1:18.9 | Like, it's just, I can understand the excitement about this. |
| 1:20.1 | They're likely going to get the number one seed. |
| 1:21.0 | But what's it all mean? |
| 1:21.5 | Not much. |
| 1:23.9 | You have a sort of star and a team full of role players. |
| 2:03.0 | Neat. That's all. What's it? Separates you from what? So my answer is yes and no. 50 wins is nice. And you know, 50 is better than 49 and you should want a team that wins 50 games. Like that's all good. It's sort of self-evident. But as I look at it, and Rich sort of mentioned there that, you know, that sort of sets you apart and put you in a different class. Not in the east it doesn't. And I just went back and looked at it this decade since 09-10. The teams that have won 50 games. And I've taken out all the LeBron teams. So I'm not going to mention any Cleveland, Miami or previous Cleveland team here because they've won 50 pretty much every time he's been there, pretty much. Last year, last year Toronto 156 the year before Chicago 150 Atlanta 160 in 2013 and 14 Indiana 156 what do that do for Indiana that |
| 2:10.3 | that might have been the year they get to the conference final lost right come to the conference |
| 2:14.2 | final but what it do for them in terms of establishing themselves as the next team? Zippo. In 2012, 2013, you know who had 54 wins? Knicks. The New York Knicks. Good guess, Maz. The Knicks. What do that do for them? Zip. In 2011 and 2012, it was a strike year. So what I did is I projected based on their winning percentages. |
| 2:35.8 | If it was a full 82 game season, Chicago would have won 62. |
| 2:39.9 | They won 50 as it was. |
