Hi everyone, this is John Mandrola from the Heart.org Medscape Cardiology and this is this week in

Cardiology for April 3rd 2020.

This week it's COVID-19 again.

I usually say thanks for listening at the end of the podcast,

but in these extraordinary times,

I want to start this week by saying thank you.

I appreciate your support. When I recorded last week

there were 85,000 cases in the US. Today there were nearly a quarter of a

million cases. It is a three-fold increase in just seven days.

You might say that this is due to an increase in testing, but I do not think so.

It's because of the deaths. A week ago, U.S. deaths were 1,200. Today, they're nearly 6,100. That is a

fivefold increase in just seven days. If this fivefold increase were to

continue will be at 30,000 deaths next Friday and after that well you get the
