2024 electorate? Next on the AM update. In a flurry of activity last night, Donald Trump made several announcements as far as appointments to his cabinet and other posts in the Donald Trump administration, beginning with the formation of the Department of Government Efficiency or

Doge for short.

That's an homage to something called a doge coin.

I believe it was a kind of cryptocurrency that was popular a few years ago.

That was at the behest of Elon Musk's very online part of his brain.

Trump said in a statement, it'll potentially become the quote-unquote Manhattan Project of our

timed. Republican politicians have dreamed about the objectives of Doge for a very long time to drive this kind of drastic change.

The Department of Government Efficiency will provide advice and guidance from outside the government and will partner with the White House and Office of Management and Budget to drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.

Trump says July 4th, 2026 is the time the Department of Government Efficiency has to complete

its mission of suggesting and potentially implementing changes that would shrink the size

of the bureaucracy and federal government. July 4th, 2026, of course, would be

America's 250th anniversary. Other appointments over the course of the last 24 hours, Trump says

he's making Congressman Mike Waltz of Florida, his national security advisor. He noted that

Waltz is the first green beret to have been elected to Congress. He also appointed

Stephen Whitkoff, a real estate mogul from New York, as his special envoy to the Middle East. He

appointed Governor Christy Noam of South Dakota. She's going to be Department of Homeland Security

I never really saw her as serving in a role like this, more like Department of the Interior or something like that.
