Hello and welcome to the Apple insider podcast. This is your host, Stephen Robles. And this

0:09.0

is a special episode recapping Apple's high speed event that took place today Tuesday,

0:14.5

October 13th. On the regular show this Friday, we'll go more into detail about the production

0:19.2

and some of the video elements. I want to get to you the announcements that came today,

0:22.9

which was the HomePod Mini brand new device. I'll talk about that in a moment. And we

0:27.4

have the brand new iPhone 12 iPhone 12 mini iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 pro max. Let's start

0:34.9

with the HomePod Mini is that was announced first. This HomePod Mini is a small kind of bowling ball

0:40.4

design with a flat top has that big series screen like a normal HomePod. But with that screen on

0:45.2

top and then a very circular spherical round design, it is powered by the S5 chip. And Apple

0:51.6

spent a lot of time talking about the computational audio and how it sounds great and all that. You can

0:56.4

set them up in stereo pairs. If two HomePod minis are close together, they'll automatically become

1:01.6

a stereo pair. And this HomePod Mini actually comes with the U1 ultra wide band chip. The feature

1:07.5

that Apple touted specifically to use this is if you bring your iPhone near one of the HomePod minis

1:13.2

as it's playing music or podcast, it can automatically transfer the audio to that HomePod Mini. They

1:19.6

also said HomePod Mini can play not only Apple music and Apple podcasts, but right now it can play

1:25.0

from iHeart radio and a couple other services with Pandora and Amazon music coming soon. No

1:30.8

announcement about Spotify coming to the HomePod Mini. Apple says the HomePod Mini has improved

1:35.4

accuracy and speed for Siri. You can ask what's my update and the HomePod Mini will give you whether

1:41.6

your meetings and all that for the day, improved voice recognition. And this is a brand new feature

1:46.2

now coming to HomePod. But they are adding an intercom feature. You can tell your HomePod Mini or

1:51.3

your normal HomePod. I imagine this will come to that as well. You could say tell everyone

1:56.1

we're running late and it will actually broadcast that message across all of your HomePod devices.
