Hi, this is Josh Marshall and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

We have an episode today which is sort of like a god or domarung kind of episode.

We're right here at the at the cusp of the apocalypse really in Washington DC.

I'm sure every, you know, we are recording this to, you know, I don't know when you're listening to this episode.

But we're recording it a few minutes after 12 noon on Wednesday and at least in theory at the moment,

we have the vote on the bipartisan infrastructure mini-bill scheduled for tomorrow.

We have this looming debt default and it's probably looming a little more threateningly today than it has been, you know,

it doesn't seem to be moving towards resolution.

It seems to be escalating or the options for resolving it seem to be diminishing.

And then, of course, the big thing is, is there going to be a reconciliation bill?

You know, for months, we've had this basic model.

I'm going to have a bipartisan hard infrastructure bill and that's going to be coupled with a reconciliation bill,

which will have some things that are kind of traditionally called infrastructure,

but it also have climate and a lot of social spending and stuff like that.

And that too has escalated for lack of a better word.

We don't seem to be moving towards a resolution on that front.

We seem to be moving towards a train wreck, an apocalypse, a twilight of the gods.
