Welcome to Our Hen House. This is Jasmine Singer. And this is Mary Ann Sullivan. And on this week's show, Marianne's guest will be once again Christopher Solubanks, who will be telling us about his new organization, Apex Advocacy,

its overall goal of helping communities of color defend themselves against animal industries

through community organizing and activism and its very first campaign regarding a backyard

slaughter operation in Lithonia, Georgia. So I got to interview

Christopher last time, and now you're getting to interview him. So I feel like next time it's me again,

right? That's how it works. I guess. Yeah. It was great to get to know him a little bit. He's just a

phenomenal activist. I love the stuff that he's doing. And I love

that he started this new organization. I think, you know, this really has potential to make deep

inroads. By combining environmental racism and animal advocacy, I think he's doing something

incredibly powerful. So yeah, I was really excited about it. So before we get to

that interview, we wanted to provide a little bit of an update because last week we spoke about

this sanctuary, Asha Sanctuary, which isn't too far from us. It's in upstate New York. And this, like,

absolute shit show that's going on there. And of course, your worst nightmare came true, Marianne,

and the news changed before our discussion about it went out.

So we wanted to give a little bit of an update into what's going on at Asha Sanctuary

regarding the cow controversy.

This is bad.

Yeah, it is.

If you didn't hear last week's episode, yeah, it's a small sanctuary and two cattle.

There is no, all right, this is an aside.

There is no word other than, there's no singular word for a bovine animal who's an adult that covers both genders.

It's bizarre.
