Summary

Ever feel like you're always last on your own to-do list? With the start of a new school year, it’s the perfect chance for us moms to shift that narrative. In a conversation with Mia Hemstad, we delved into the vital role of self-care in reclaiming our time and energy. Mia's "four B's" framework encourages us to thoughtfully prioritize our needs, whether that means indulging in a favorite show or finally scheduling that doctor’s appointment. By investing in ourselves, not only do we enhance our own well-being, but we also enrich our ability to support those around us. Let’s start this school year by putting ourselves at the top of our priority list. This fall marks the first time in over 14 years since becoming a parent that all of my children

are in school for at least part of the day each weekday. I'll admit to you that this is something

0:46.3

I have equally looked forward to and dreaded. The first week they were all in school, I shocked

myself that morning by feeling so many things

0:55.2

I did not expect. Sadness, a little lost, and totally exhausted. Back to school season can feel

like both a breath of fresh air and a total energy drain. After a jam-packed summer, many moms

finally get a little space, only to realize

1:12.8

they're tired, behind on house and work projects, and now balancing all the drop-offs pickups

and increased mental and literal loads that come with school. With all of that, it's so easy

1:24.3

to slip right back into or even stay in patterns of self-neglect.

That's why I'm so thrilled to welcome back Mia Hempstad to the show.
