If we see a woman who is paving the way to make it to the top, whether it's as the president of

the PTA or to the doors of the White House, we often hear the world tear her down a notch or two.

Who does she think she is? We seem to think that women like this must be so full of themselves to

dare reach for higher and so boldly too. I'm annoyed by this perception for sure, but what truly

disturbs me now is how much we have internalized these beliefs about women and dreams and ambitions

and goals in our own lives. All around me, I see amazing women of all backgrounds and of all

skills and talents of all possibilities who are sitting on the sidelines of their own lives.

We do this to ourselves so easily. It's like we take ourselves down a notch or two before someone
