on Ask or Tell Me Anything. We've got a lot to get to this morning, so let's get going. We will

begin with Laura Plansky. We're going to begin with a Bible question. Song of Solomon,

written by the king who had many wives and concubines.

What's its purpose in the Bible?

Well, its purpose in the Bible is to glorify God by extolling the virtues of marriage and family.

Now, as you said, it's written by the king who had many wives and concubines.

Why is this the picture of marriage, family, and romance

extolling the virtues of all of those things? Well, you'll recall Solomon's daddy was a murderer

and an adulterer as well. Yet he was also called a man after God's own heart. So just because

you have a pet sin doesn't mean that necessarily God can't use you

for his purposes. And I think that's a picture of what Song of Solomon does. You know,

it does paint an accurate picture with Solomon's first wife of what romance looks like. Let's

just take a hard look at what romance looks like and feels like and how

beautiful it is and what it's like to have a family and things of that nature. So I do believe that

it glorifies God. And yeah, it doesn't make sense. Well, he's an adulterer. Why does he get to

speak about marriage and family? Well, God redeemed and is still redeeming Solomon's words in Song of Solomon.

So that's kind of my general, simple answer to your query.
