Hi, everybody. Welcome back to your anything but politics segment. This is one of my favorite

segments that we do on Smarter News. And we took a little bit of a hiatus for this summer,

but we're back. We're back in action. See, Congress came back to Capitol Hill,

and we're going to come back to not talking about them. You see how that works? At the end of a week

when you're covering everything that's going on with Capitol Hill, you want to talk about anything

about politics? This is the bucket we fill at the end of the week together. And I appreciate having this time together. Shout out to my husband by the way. He told me this week that he's really enjoying our podcast, which I appreciate, babe. Thank you so much. We've been doing them on and off for about seven years. But this is the first time that he's mentioned it. No, no, no. He's been a great, he's a great supporter of smarter news. He believes that we should also have a sister or sibling or brother project

called him genius. I've taken up that suggestion and I am just going to table it for now,

depending on your feedback on that.

So we're going to do a little bit today.

I got a bunch of really fun stories that I would like to just put in front of you this week.

And I also am going to break my own rule here because I am going to talk about two stories

that are related to politics.

But the reason why I'm doing that is because as I was sitting through

yet another hearing, listening to lawmakers fight with a cabinet member, in this case, it was

Secretary Kennedy of Health and Human Services in front of the Senate Finance Committee this

week. And I was watching the whole thing because I wanted to get the best of the best for you.

We have a lot of sound bites on social media if you would like to check it out. I found myself getting frustrated because it's difficult to sit

through hours of people fighting. That's a difficult thing to do. It's not the most fun. If there's a

million other things that I could do for smarter news, I'd rather do them than do this. But I know

this is something that you're going to see. So I want to make sure that we're providing for you in this time of a cluttered media space, at least some direction of if you're going to spend a few minutes on this topic, here's a couple sound bites that we think are worth your time. In this particular hearing, there wasn't a ton of news that came out of it.

It was more of the same fighting that we've seen over the last several months. And obviously, there's big disagreements about, for example, vaccines.

What I realized thinking about this and wondering, why am I so frustrated with news today?
