A couple of weeks ago you brought to my attention a great question that that we decided would be our first Q&A, our first topic of conversation and I'd love to have you share that so that we can discuss.

I've suffered with anxiety for a few years now, but recently

it's intensified and I'm finding that I'm getting constantly worried about the anxiety itself,

that it tends to manifest itself in more symptoms, and it seems I can't escape

the cycle. Any ideas regarding how to combat this. So fear of the fear, really common, awful experience that can happen with anxiety.

What happens is that we get sensitized to what makes us anxious and then we subconsciously want to avoid that experience.

So in a way it's set up in a similar way to a phobia.

If somebody gets really scared of a spider and they feel awful about the experience then they start to avoid spiders.

That's the way our subconscious mind runs. It wants to protect us from things that freak us out,

things that make us feel horrible.

The trouble with anxiety is that it's in us.

We can't run away from it as much as we'd like to.

So we become sensitized to this fear of a fear.

And as it says in the question yeah it starts to run

in a self perpetuating cycle you fear the anxiety you want to avoid it but you're stuck with

it and that causes more anxiety and that's where things can

start to spiral horribly out of control and it all starts with a sensitive person
