Summary

Imagine you can hear me screaming with excitement. You get to meet MY SISTER, Kerri Taylor, on the podcast this week. I am so proud of her for doing this. It isn’t easy to walk back through the hardest season of your life. However, she has a passion to turn her pain into purpose.

Kerri is a wife, a mom, a leader of moms and one incredible athlete. She is the best big sister I could ask for and the reason I rededicated my life to Christ. In this episode, she shares about her intense journey with postpartum. If you have experienced anxiety or depression as a mom, I believe this episode will really encourage you.

I love that Kerri gets practical and shares things that helped her get through her season of depression and anxiety. She encourages us to see a doctor, get counseling, avoid hiding in your home and lean into God. She trusted God through the dark times and is now sharing about his faithfulness on the other side. I am praying that this will reach any mom suffering with anxiety and depression to be reminded that you are never alone.

Enjoy!

Music Hey friends, welcome back to Pardon the Mess.

1:02.0

I'm your host, Courtney Defeo, and today is a special episode because I have my sister on here.

1:07.5

And a few fun facts about her.

1:09.1

She is my older sister.

1:12.8

She looks like she's 22 because,

1:20.4

you know, she's an iron woman. She runs marathon. She is an incredibly healthy 51 year old,

1:25.6

old. So I always have to like tell the people, like, she's older, she's older. But you'll be able to tell that from her wisdom. I just love her so much. We have a younger brother that's nine years younger than me, and he's also been on the podcast. But today, you get to know my sister, who is a mom of two teenage boys. So we talk about that. You boy moms are going to love her. And I also want to just say, this is kind of fun. I always wanted an older brother, but I had Carrie, and she was just as good.

1:46.4

In fact, there's had Carrie, and she was just as good.

2:01.7

In fact, there's a funny story. And right when I got to high school, somebody was picking on me. And my sister marched in that gym, put that girl on the wall and said, leave her alone. And so she's always been protective. She's always been supportive. And I would say since we had kids and got married, we are probably closer than we've ever been because we have so much to relate on. As I share in the episode today,

2:06.8

she's also the reason that I turned back towards Jesus after college. And she invited me to 722,

2:12.0

which is a singles ministry. And so I have so much to be grateful for. But as you'll hear today,

2:16.9

she shares about anxiety and depression,
