This is CBS. I on the world. I'm John Batchel. Malcolm Hone, Conference of Presidents,

major American Jewish organizations, joins me as my colleague and co-host and friend,

and we're very pleased to welcome Michael Wagenheim, the Washington Bureau Chief for I-24. That's the big news

station in Israel.

Attending in these last hours a hearing in the House of Representatives about anti-Semitism.

We mentioned that anti-Semitism is stalking the land of North America.

There are reports, I have seen the video and the photo of graffiti on the Holocaust Memorial in Ottawa.

Malcolm, a good evening to you. This is fresh out of Canada. Is that correct what I'm seeing?

Yes, and it's one of unfortunately numerous such vandalisms that have taken place at Holocaust memorials

in particular, but also at Jewish institutions in the last 24 hours and for every 24-hour

period over the last many months and years as the number of incidents have grown.

And this hearing was of special significance,

and we're lucky that our guest was able actually to be a witness to it and gave us a firsthand report.

Michael, thank you. Can you outline what you learned yesterday?

This hearing yesterday was held in the House Committee on Homeland Security. It was a subcommittee meeting, talking about the rise of anti-Israel extremism in America

and the threat that it presents to national security.

I'm going to tell you, A, I was a little bit disappointed in the turnout for the subcommittee.

Less than half of the members showed up to this hearing and a couple only for a few

moments time, but what was discussed at large was sort of a background on what we're seeing in

terms of the elevation just in the last few weeks alone. Kerry Sleeper from Secure Community

Network was one of the witnesses testifying yesterday, hundreds upon hundreds of
