If the Lakers were, say, eight games over .500, Anthony Davis would be squarely in the conversation for league MVP, given how he's played throughout the season on both sides of the ball. Tuesday's 132-131 over the Raptors at the Crypt would be front and center on his resume. 41 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. He hit 13 of 14 free throws, including all of them down the stretch. And while Davis only had one block, it came in the final minutes against Toronto forward Scotty Barnes and helped preserve the win. It took too long for the Lakers to get him involved again after a scorching hot first quarter, but eventually Davis found the space to put the game away. Meanwhile, LeBron dropped 12 dimes and posted 22 points. Five other Lakers finished in double figures. As it was against the Clippers on Sunday, the Lakers were hardly perfect. The offense, particularly early, was awful, but it came alive late. The Lakers still can't put multiple constructive possessions together against Toronto's zone offense, just to name a couple issues. But in the end the Lakers had a second straight victory, with a vulnerable Phoenix squad visiting on Thursday. It was nice to see the Lakers need buckets in the fourth and actually get them.
