Summary

The Lakers bounced back in a big way Monday night, beating Denver at Staples Center 93-89. The game wasn't pretty for L.A., but it was meaningful after a horrible showing Sunday, one filled with injury and disappointment. But despite missing LeBron James (ankle) and Dennis Schröder (health and safety protocols) the Lakers responded with one of their best games of the season. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Anthony Davis looked much, much more like the presumptive MVP candidate people thought he'd be before the season. 25 points and seven rebounds, but more importantly he was extremely active defensively, a big reason why the Nuggets were held under 90 points. Big games as well for Alex Caruso and Talen Horton-Tucker. SEGMENT 2: Monday's other hero? Marc Gasol, who was a +17 in 17 minutes in relief of a foul-laden (and ineffective) Andre Drummond. After the game, he tried to downplay his personal contribution and put attention back on the team, but no question the Lakers as a group look more cohesive when he plays. So if Frank Vogel decides to keep doing it, who loses minutes? SEGMENT 3: Schröder is going to miss a couple weeks, it seems, and that is suboptimal for the Lakers. Particularly in any moments, whether parts of or even whole games, where LeBron is unavailable. Guys like Caruso and THT have a lot more on their plates at a time when, honestly, you'd prefer they not. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Kiminetski, a huge, huge win for the Lakers Monday, 93 to 89 over the Denver Nuggets at

0:22.7

Staples Center, plenty to talk about just from that game, to say the least, Andy, that

0:29.3

was one of the Lakers badly needed, badly needed to win, but also it felt like, it felt

0:36.0

like an unwinnable one for them to actually win it.

0:39.8

It's 24 hours ago, I mean, it was, it cannot be overstated.

0:45.0

I mean, just if you listen to our reaction during Monday's podcast and frankly, the reaction

0:51.2

around the NBA, Twitter, you know, ESPN, everywhere, people had pretty much written off the

0:59.7

Lakers as in a free fall and not without reason.

1:04.6

Oh, no, it was, Sunday was a disaster, like in short of like literally guys being out

1:10.4

for the season and you're just, you know, like those sort of catastrophes, that's what

1:15.3

that game was.

1:16.3

So to turn around and win the way that they did on Monday was absolutely massive for the

1:22.1

Lakers both, I think mentally and also in the standings, which we can't overlook.

1:27.4

AD, Anthony Davis, we have to be specific, great game on both sides of the ball will start

with him.

But we also, Andy, in our second segment, we'll get to the center rotation because Mark
