Welcome to a History of Europe podcast. My name is Carl Rilett, and from 2013 to 2023, I told the story of the history of the continent of Europe, from the ancient Greeks right up to the First World War.

I use military encounters as key points in a narrative, but the main idea was to tell the grand sweep

of European history from all different perspectives. There are over 200 episodes available

to enjoy. I've enjoyed a break, but have recently been writing new episodes. These continue the story from the First World War and will

describe the interwar years, i.e. those leading up to the Second World War. Those will come soon.

In the meantime, I'm very soon releasing a set of episodes, previously only available to Patreon subscribers.

These are about the Northern Crusades, a term given later to a series of expeditions of Christians

into the Baltic region in the 11 and 1200s, and are an important time in the history of modern-day,

Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia.
