Not like there's any news to cover. Nothing really going on.

My guest this week is Anne Coulter, the conservative flamethrower and Donald Trump supporter.

It's kind of an interesting backstory with Anne coming on the podcast.

About six months ago, we had actually set up,

and actually this is going to come news to Anne,

probably not pleasant news,

but we'd set up a podcast with her about six months ago

and I canceled it at the last minute because, frankly, I wasn't all that thrilled with some

of the stuff that she'd been saying publicly. Her comments in particular about Muslims

and also about Mexican immigrants, I thought were over the line. I still do. And more

importantly than that, I just didn't want to kind of, I didn't envision this podcast as a

platform for people just to throw bombs. But a few things have changed over the past six months.

Firstly, Coulter, I think, has grown from being someone who's really comfortable in the role of being an outsider and a gadfly into a person who's really having influence on Donald Trump's campaign.

What do I mean by that?

Well, when Trump and his campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, a couple

weeks ago, tried to, quote unquote, soften his position on immigration reform, Coulter took to

Twitter and the airwaves to push back. And I am told from multiple Republican sources that that played a big part in Trump

remodifying, reflip-flopping back into a more strident position. Coulter kind of,

Coulter and people like her, but Coulter in particular, I think, had a big impact on pushing

him back to where he was. So she is a player in addition to being somebody

who's also on the outside. And then on a more personal note, I got a thing for underdogs,
