Hello everyone, this is not the beginning of the show.

We originally recorded.

We recorded an entire episode and then Donald Trump held a press conference in which he promised

to send active duty military into American cities to enforce, quote unquote, law and order.

Right before he used tear gas and mounted police officers to clear Lafayette Park so he

could walk to St. John's Church, hold up a Bible and take some pictures.

So we felt it was important to come back and record more.

It is 8.36 pm Eastern time on Monday night and we both fear what will happen between

now and when this episode releases in the morning and desperately hope that there isn't

something that has eclipsed the significance of the moment that we just witnessed.

We both have the same reaction initially, which was he did all of this because he does not

like reading headlines about himself in a bunker.

He does not like the weakness that was projected and he decided to come out in what he would

define as a show of strength.

Well and this followed up and by all accounts, terrible phone call with governors of the United

States in which he basically berated them and told them they were jerks and if they didn't

get control, he would come in there.

So if anybody was holding their breath, which I sincerely doubt anyone was, that he was

going to show up and lead with compassion and reconciliation, then any of those hopes

have been very quickly dashed.

Yeah, he made a gesture toward separation of the peaceful protesters from the chaos opportunists

in American cities, but the elevation of a militaristic approach to law enforcement that
