Hello and welcome to Anfield Extra as part of the Liverpool Echo I'm Neil Jones and I am delighted to bring you a big interview

podcast special today. I have been on the road and don't always stay in the office I've been down to

nothing to speak to a man who's got a very distinguished playing career and is

now making his way in the world of management he's at the very top of League 2 at the

moment and he's doing a pretty good job at English football's oldest

professional club. He's the Knox County manager Kevin Nolan, a scouser born and

bread, a toxed lad, someone you'll be very familiar with and not just for his

chicken dance. He's a guy who's made over 600 professional appearances in the Premier League and

a championship. He is a man who scored 99 career league goals. He expresses a

source of regret that he never got to the magic hundred he was very

generous with his time he gave me an hour in his office down at Meadow Lane

Knox County's ground and he talked us through pretty much everything his upbringing as a

young lad at Blue Coat School and Beaufort Street School in Toxeth and in

Wavertree he talks us through his dad playing as a center forward alongside

Robbie Fowler's dad in a local pub team.

He talks us through seeing Robbie Fowler as a young player.

He talks of his idols growing up as a player, the likes of Steve

McMahonman, Lee Sharp and Errik Cantonard even a young scous of support in Manchester United and

looking out for Manchester United players.

Interesting indeed.

He talks through his release at Liverpool and how he came to wind up at Bolton Wanderers

where I'm sure a lot of you will be familiar with his work.
