You sit there afterwards and you know you might say I'm never going to sign up for another one of these things again. But when that settles into memory,

those last five, seven, ten hours, those are what really dig in and make you like a human being.

They're the essence of humanity.

That you've scraped it all away.

And whether you're battling stomach or quads,

your feet, or just a lack of will or you're even just

walking it in. When you have that experience and then you look at the rest of your life,

you know, dealing with a relationship problem or a job issue or

something with your kids or any number of things. It all puts it in perspective and

I wouldn't trade that gift of running 100 miles for a second.
