Welcome to The Treatment. I'm Elvis Mitchell. I'm sitting across from a man who's worked in television and film, and as I mentioned to him when I saw him just last week at the LA County Museum, he tends to make films about people who are and they tend to do that in relationships.

Of course, we know from films such as 45 years, which he directed Charlotte Rampling to an Oscar nomination and Weekend.

And his newest film is an adaptation of the novel Lino and P.

And I discovered that we actually have something in common, which is we both worked in

I was a projectionist in Renata Theater, and you worked as an usher.

And talk about the experience of seeing movies in that way and just seeing them and what

Yeah, it was actually, I would say it was like my film school.

It was such an amazing experience.

And it was at the National Film Theatre in London.

And it was a rep cinema.

So they would play three different films a day,

like different kind of classics.

And they'd have seasons, they'd have a Bergman season,

that have an Antonioni season, that have all of these things going on.

And you had to sit in the cinema and you had to be there as an usher and watch the whole film.
