So, you wrote this remarkable memoir, Embracing What Remains,

and it's about your father, who was a prominent surgeon,

but he was diagnosed with dementia.

What was that experience like for you as his daughter,

and a younger child writing a memoir about a father or a parent with dementia?

Did you have any preconceived notions about what dementia was prior to his diagnosis,

or did you ever think you'd be writing a memoir about your father to begin with?
