Today, we have a special edition of the podcast.

We mentioned in the last episode that this podcast, which is the last podcast of

the calendar year, 2025, is a bit like we do in the Jewish tradition. How is this podcast different

from every other podcast? In any case, this one is different because this one is the award ceremony

for the Golden Duke Awards.

And the Golden Duke Awards go back to 2007.

The name comes from the now late Randy Duke Cunningham,

who was a member of the House of Representatives from, like, suburbs out of San Diego. I can't remember exactly

where his district was, but that general area. And he got involved in this sort of like totally

bafo scandal back in, I think it first hit in 2005. It kind of, it sort of made its way into 2006. He was on one of the

intelligence communities, and he was just taking bribes for like everything. He even had notoriously

even had a bribe menu. For this level of bribe, you can get this contract. I mean, it was like that.

And the great reporting on this was done by the local reporters who I believe were part of

a San Diego Union Tribune. I believe it was part of Knight Ritter. I may have that off a long time

ago. But in any case, the scandal first saw the light of day because it came out

that someone had bought Duke a house, right? It was one of these things where I think, I think what it was

is that someone bought his, you know, $500,000 house for like $1.5 million. And then he turned

around and bought a new house for one, you know, so in any case,
