Well, if you would turn your attention to our scriptural text today, Acts chapter 27, verse 29 and 30 in the New Living Translation of Scripture,

notice there these words. At this rate, they were afraid that we would be soon driven against the rocks along the shore.

And so they threw out four anchors from the back of the ship and prayed for daylight. And then the sailors tried to abandon the ship. They lowered

the lifeboats as though they were going to put out anchors from the front of the ship.

And I just want to talk today from the subject, anchors, anchors.

Whether you realize it or not, everybody needs an anchor. When you go through a storm, you will

understand the incredible need of an anchor. When you're in a storm,

the best thing that you can do sometimes is just throw out an anchor and pray for daylight.

Have you ever been in a storm? And it felt as though it was a terrible night because you didn't

know what to expect. And all you could do is throw out an anchor and pray for daylight.

I don't know what it is about nighttime that it somehow intensifies our imagination.

Things seem to be more intense.

Pain seems to be more intense at nighttime.

Time seems to drag slower at night times.

Have you ever awakened in the night by something? And it just, you know, and you just looked at

the clock and it was just only 12 minutes of past since the last time and it felt like there's been

two hours. I mean, when you're going through a difficult period, if you're under attack, time seems

like it stands still. And sometimes you just need to be

able to just hold on and pray for daylight to say, Lord, let me see the light of day. Help me, God,

to just get through this. Have you ever been through a familial storm? Something crazy is happening

in key relationships with your spouse, with your children, your son, your daughter, your cousin,

your niece, your nephew.
