In the early 1900s, the village of Pisanhall, located in Suffolk, England, was a picturesque

community where everyone knew everyone, everyone's business was common knowledge, and gossip

was treated as currency.

Still, it was an absolutely wonderful place to live, and those lucky enough to settle there

felt incredibly safe. That was until the year 1902 when tragedy struck. Our story today

centers around 22-year-old Rose Harsent, a young girl who lived in the

servants quarters at Providence House, a residence owned by a Mr. and Mrs. Crisp, in the

winter of 1901 and throughout the spring of 1902, Rose found herself as the topic of village gossip,

when she found herself swimming in male admirers.

Often encouraging them in their pursuit, Rose openly requested love letters to be sent her way,

and was never really bothered by their candor.

With some claiming these were sometimes raunchy letters that left little to the imagination,
