TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

ROMANS 4:1-6 - What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness.

Lord God, thank you so much for teaching us through your word.

We ask you to give us insight into the example you're going to show us from the Old Testament

1:12.0

of what it means to be saved by faith.

1:14.7

We ask it in Jesus' name, amen.

Now friends, when I think of the Old Testament, I don't necessarily think of

1:22.0

people being saved by faith. I tend to think of that only

1:26.7

in a new testament terms because that's when Jesus came on the scene. But Romans

1:31.0

chapter 4 verses 1 through 6 they're going to show us that the way of thinking I've just described is not the way to think about it.
