All right, like I said, we have a long passage of scripture, so let's pray together so that

we can get going right away.

Lord God, thank you so much for teaching us through your word.

We ask you to give us insight into the example you're going to show us from the Old Testament

of what it means to be saved by faith.

We ask it in Jesus' name, amen.

Now friends, when I think of the Old Testament, I don't necessarily think of

people being saved by faith. I tend to think of that only

in a new testament terms because that's when Jesus came on the scene. But Romans

chapter 4 verses 1 through 6 they're going to show us that the way of thinking I've just described is not the way to think about it.

He says, what then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather, according to the flesh?
