During the season of Lent, I invite you to join

me each Monday on a journey of returning to God through meditation and personal reflection.

The invitation in returning to God is really an invitation to divine love. When we draw near to God, we draw near to love.

So pause and begin to calm the noise around you and within you.

And now, let's settle in and begin. As we begin, take several slow, deep breaths and settle into these moments of stillness. Notice without judgment any feelings or tension you are holding.

Name anything that comes to mind. Today we'll consider the question, Where is My Heart discouraged?

Our focus will be Psalm 42.

As you listen and meditate upon this Psalm, allow yourself to picture Jesus reciting it as he grew up.

Jesus knew his calling and destiny.

It would have been a common practice for him to pray and sing the Psalms.

Imagine Psalm 42 as his heartfelt cry psalm 42 as the deer longs for streams of water so i long for you

o god i thirst for God the living God my heart is breaking as I remember how

it used to be why am I discouraged why is my heart so sad I will put my hope in God.

Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you.

Each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs,

praying to God who gives me life.

Why am I discouraged?

Why is my heart so sad?

I will put my hope in God.
