Summary

Hello everyone!

To round out 2019 we have a live French lesson with Camille from French Today!

In it, we have a little chat, speak French for about six minutes (skip it if you're a total beginner, but I think you might be ok) and then a language lesson or two about some common difficulties that students have in French.

Hello everyone, you're listening to the Eiffel Tower. My name is Oliver G. I'm an Australian guy in

0:05.3

Paris looking for stories and trying to share them with you. And as I sit here with just a few

0:11.2

days until the very end of 2019, well, part of me wants to reflect on the whole year, but I think

0:17.1

it would take a lot longer than the 30 seconds that I have before this episode starts.

0:21.7

But look, if I had to try, I'd say there's been ups and downs.

0:26.8

The biggest down would be the Notre Dame Cathedral burning in April.

0:32.3

Very heavy time for Paris.

0:35.4

The up would be another year of podcasting and finishing a book and getting it published

0:40.0

and people buying it on Kickstarter. Both of those things took up a lot of my time this year,

0:44.8

but we're not here to talk about either of them today. We're here to break Earful Tower history

0:49.5

and protocol at once. It's Camille from French Today. French today is the company that does

0:55.5

audiobooks that will teach you French and they've been the sponsor of this podcast for the whole

1:00.9

year. Now, what you're about to hear, I say breaking protocol and making history, what that means

1:07.3

is Camille is with me sort of doing a lesson. What we're doing is there's a whole

1:13.7

mix of things. I'll walk you through it before I get into it. It's the first kind of couple minutes is

1:19.3

us just chatting. Then there's us speaking French and that goes for about six minutes. So if you

1:25.3

can't understand a word of French, you should try with that bit

1:28.7

because we speak slowly and about easy things. We're talking about my book, really, and the book

1:33.5

launch party and a little bit more. But if you absolutely can't, skip forward six minutes where we get

1:39.0

into a chat about language, a few rules, pronunciation, a particular word that causes a lot of people trouble.

1:46.5

And then we sort of walk through one of the exercises in the French Today audiobooks.

1:51.5

Now, obviously, they're the sponsor of the show.
