I'd like to just begin by setting the stage and asking you to tell our listeners a little bit about yourself,

how you became interested in medicine, and specifically, what drew you

to the whole vaccine debate? Well, I think the real answer to that question is I'm a child of the

50s. When I was five years old, I had a operation of my right foot that didn't go well. It was sort of a congenital

abnormality. And so it landed me in a chronic care facility and orthopedic facility called

Kernan's Hospital for crippled children, because those back in years when you could use

words like crippled and feeble-minded in the name of children's hospitals.

So I was there for about six weeks.

And when you're in a chronic care facility in the mid-1950s, you're in a polio ward.

So I remember polio.

You know, there was one visiting hour a week.

I remember children in our lungs.

I remember the so-called Sister Kenny hot pack treatments where they would take these excruciatingly hot packs and put them on with their arms and legs.
