When Nancy Crampton Brophy wrote her novels, she would craft stories of strong men and beautiful women living lives of passion, romance, luxury, and drama.

But as Nancy stepped away from her writing desk, leaving her fictitious worlds to enter the real one. She was greeted with a reality that,

to her, was less than ideal. Nancy lived in a small house in a suburban neighborhood of Portland

with her chef-husband, Daniel Brophy. Daniel was a beloved instructor at the Oregon Culinary

Institute, adored by all of his students.

He loved the outdoors and all the riches that nature had to offer.

Dan delighted in forging for food in the wet Pacific Northwest climate,

and most of all loved spending time with his family.

Nancy, on the other hand, was not satisfied with the life she shared with Dan.

She desired a different path,

a life of exotic extravagance, fame, material success. She wanted to live abroad. As fate would have it, Nancy would eventually acquire the fame and notoriety she so desperately craved, not for her

romance novels, but instead for a blog post that

But to their horror, they would instead find their beloved chef on the kitchen floor, dead of two gunshot wounds.
