And coming over here, you realize nothing matters, but liberty and these ideas and values

that surround democracy and freedom.

And so ultimately, my commander said this to me.

He said, Sarah, we're not fighting for tolerance here or acceptance.

We're fighting for liberation.

We're fighting for life and death and we're fighting for this idea of freedom.

And that stuck with me forever.

We're not fighting any sort of war of identity.

We're fighting for our lives and we're fighting to make sure we're not enslaved here.
