Three minutes after ten is the time. A very good morning to you. We've done it again, haven't we?

So it's so unsatisfying. It was Cassandra, wasn't it, in Greek mythology, who was cursed to be

correct with her prophecies, but never believed. And being proved right has since 2016 never felt

so unsatisfying. But I told you yesterday, and I must confess I've been a little

bit surprised by some of the people in my profession who fell headlong into this trap. If someone

says something racist, especially on the telly, you don't have a debate about whether or not

it's racist. Suddenly, even ITV last night is finding itself asking questions about whether this racism

is actually racism or realism.

And I told you it was going to happen.

And I derive no pleasure whatsoever from being proved right.

But given that we spend a couple of minutes catching up with each other every morning,

I thought I'd just record the fact that I was very disappointed and dismayed to see some of

the people wading headlong

into precisely, I mean, you read a Richard Little John Collum in the Daily Mail, you know what you're

going to get, but you turn on previously or often decent broadcasting and find a debate about whether racism is actually racism and your heart sinks a little further as the Overton window shifts a little more rightward. But we're not going to start with that today. I don't know if you've noticed this. It's a bit cocky of me to think that you might have done, to be honest. I don't know how much attention you pay to my burblings every morning. You might just have me on to keep the cat company or to keep you awake or possibly to help you fall asleep. But I don't know. There's two types of listener, isn't there? There's the background noise and then there's the hanging on your every word. And I suppose most of us oscillate between both of those poles and end up

somewhere in between. I probably concentrate a little more on what I'm saying than you do,

but not always. I know how certainly been occasions where you've pointed out that I've got the time

wrong, the day wrong, the story wrong, the facts wrong, everything wrong. But generally speaking,

I suspect that the team upstairs, the management team,

would expect me to be paying a little bit more attention than you do to what goes on between 10 and 1 on

LBC. And I have noticed in recent months, I have noticed that I'm getting interested in something I was never that interested in before.

It's very strange.
