My name is Freddie Gray. I'm the deputy editor of the spectator.

I'm very pleased to be joined by Lionel Schreiber, the Spectator columnist and author.

And we're going to be talking about America and mass shootings following the

pulling shooting in Yuvaldi, Texas. Lionel, I felt a bit guilty asking you on to talk about

this because I know you've become the sort of go-to person about mass shootings in America because

you wrote a very significant novel, a very important novel. We need to talk about Kevin that was

turned into a film. And you've written before about how awkward it is for you, because every time there's a

mass shooting in America, people ask you to come on and talk about it.

But of course, in your book, The Killer, the Psychopath, was using a bow, not a gun.

And so you don't really feel well qualified

to talk about the gun debate.

Am I summing that up, right?

Well, maybe a better way of putting it is

that I'm no better qualified

to talk about the gun debate than anyone else.

But you know columnists, they're experts on everything.
