Hello there, I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast.

So last week, I wrote a column about the future of America's two party system.

I said this, wrote this, both parties have become solar zombies of their former selves.

direction and leadership, only to collapse once that personality fades.

I got a lot of feedback on that column, so I thought it'd be fun to invite two people

First up, we have an academic senior fellow at the New America Project Lead Drupman.

He's written about the doom loop of our two party system and he's a proponent of rank,

choice, voting, which is one of the mechanisms we would need if we wanted to institute a multi-party

And we have an activist, Nick Troyonna, executive director of United America, which was a lead

funder of the reform that passed in Alaska on the ballot last November, the first top four

nonpartisan primary and rank choice voting general election.

So basically, the state of Alaska is now ready for a multi-party election.

So essentially, when you think about if we were to look at the two major political parties

through the prism of capitalism, right, and through the prism of a market, you would

say, boy, they have a monopoly and yet nobody's happy with the monopoly.

How many people vote more as a break pedal about the other party rather than vote excitedly
