King Charles is in Washington on a trip intended to reset the US-Uk relationship and the King's speech to Congress last night appears to have gone down well. More on that later.

However, the trip has been potentially overshadowed by newly leaked statements from the UK's ambassador to Washington.

So the Financial Times released details of the comments yesterday.

They were in fact, though, made by the ambassador, Sir Christian Turner.

And back in February, he was speaking to school students.

So this is from that FT report.

During a question and answer session, Turner said,

so Turner being the ambassador,

said he disliked the phrase special relationship to describe Anglo-American ties

complaining that it was quite nostalgic.
