Welcome to 995 Mac Daily for Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. I'm your host, Chance Miller. We are supported this week by card pointers. Leading off today, as Apple continues its gradual replacement of LCD screens with OLED, it's been unclear when exactly the iPad Air would join the party.

Earlier reports suggested it could happen as soon as this year, while subsequent reports pointed to

2027 or later. A new supply chain report today says that production plans are now in place,

and we can expect an OLED iPad Air to launch in the spring of

27. Apple and Samsung display have reportedly reached an agreement to start mass production of

OLED screens for iPad Air at the end of this year or around January of next year.

These are expected to be basic OLED displays, not like the fancy tandem

OLED displays used in the latest generation iPad pros. The Samsung display being made for

this iPad Air will have a lower spec than that product. But still, it will offer a dramatic

improvement in picture quality, specifically in deeper blacks,

compared to the current iPad Air's LCD screen. But coming as soon as later this year, we're

still expecting Apple to launch an OLED version of the iPad Mini. This iPad Mini might also be

a bigger update, perhaps with a new water-resistant design. So OLED for the iPad

Mini later this year, then OLED for the iPad Air in early 2027. We're sponsored this week by
