Amanda Knox was just reconvicted in an Italian court.

That's the headline I saw yesterday and was immediately like

because we're convicted this but I feel like that happened forever right 2007

that's when she was convicted of murder in Italy if you're not familiar with the story

She was studying abroad in Italy and her British roommate was murdered and she was

convicted of the murder She served four years in prison, and then her conviction

got overturned in 2011.

But in 2009, Amanda was also convicted of slandering a bar owner in the city that she lived in because

while she was undergoing 53 hours of investigation from the Italian

authorities she wrote a statement accusing this guy of

murdering her roommate. Oh she so she's like I think this guy's a person of

interest I think he's the one who did it.

Yeah, she identified him as a suspect.

So not only is there a written statement of her

identifying this guy, but she also then recounted it

the next day on a handwritten note as well. So because she was

convicted of that that would have added three years of prison time to her

sentence but she was already like acquitted from the murder where she served four years.

So the European Court of Human Rights ruled in 2023
