Yesterday, we covered how to assure them.

Today, let's talk about how you motivate them, for real, because many leaders really

screw this up too.

This is probably due to all that we have been taught incorrectly by Hollywood.

You actually don't motivate your people by painting your face blue and white and galloping

up in front of them screaming things like freedom, like Mel Gibson did in Braveheart.

Or you don't take them to some hallowed ground of Gettysburg to lecture them on respecting

each other as Denzel did in remembering the Titans.

Or you don't take them out to a graveyard to challenge them to rise from the ashes and

to grab glory as Matthew McConaughey did in We Are Marshall.

Or you don't work up the perfect chest beating locker room speech telling your team to

fight and die for those itches like Al Pacino did in any given Sunday or to pursue perfection,

like Billy Bob Thornton did in Friday Night Lights.

Or by grabbing a microphone in your office bullpen and berating your team by screaming,
