I didn't finish that story. I want to play it start to finish.

Because it's more important to understand a story and what it means in the bigger picture than to jam every story into a broadcast.

You know, we all know that we have a crime problem in Houston.

And you know intuitively that there are more crimes committed in certain neighborhoods than others.

And you know intuitively that people are far more likely to commit a violent crime in their own neighborhood.

They don't generally drive across town, although they do now.

But typically, and typically those crimes stem from,

violent crimes stem from some form of commerce,

which is usually drugs could be prostitution but usually drugs and the criminal enterprise surrounding that.

And violence is part of, you know,

they don't have a traditional business model, you know, with marketing and,

but they do have a way of competing in the marketplace

and one of them is killing off your your your rivals and one of the ways that they discipline employees is if you steal from me

you get killed. There's a lot that goes into that. But the problem is the crime that would not have to concern you as much as long as you

stayed out of that neighborhood is now spilling out.

And those guys, once they're arrested enough times, eventually, I've had officers

had officers tell me they know almost every criminal on you know these five blocks they

know his birth name they know his birth date they know all his nicknames they

know where his various baby mama stay because that's

where he's gonna stay. He doesn't have a legal address. Oh sure they've got him

registered to vote somewhere so they vote for him but he basically is a rolling stone wherever he lays his hat is his home and when he did no but but he he just kind of rolls around you know he got different places he can go and, you know, all he's got to do

a slave for a little while, he can sleep there, eat there, even, maybe even play daddy for a little
