I'm a voracious reader.

I developed the habit of reading from my mother who didn't go to college, but you never found her without a book in her presence.

Books stacked beside her, a little chair where she and my father would sit, he and his lazy boy and her in her chair.

Books beside the bed.

If ever we were in the car, there was a book beside her there.

But I have learned more, despite all my reading, from conversations and life

experiences from people who are very successful and particularly from their failures, because

that's where I think we learned the most. Success can give you the false view that you're perfect,

when in fact it might have been a little good luck and you're less

keen to look inside yourself but chris pappas is our guest and i wanted to go back to a couple

things you said in telling your story why do you think so many greeks come to this country and are drawn to hospitality restaurants in particular and why do you think so many Greeks come to this country and are drawn to hospitality, restaurants in particular, and why do you think they've been so successful?

I think much of it was that when they came over, they didn't speak the language, and there were just a few Greeks that were ahead of them that got into the business.

And when these new Greeks would come over, the business that the earlier Greeks had arrived and gotten into

happened to be the restaurant business and such.

And that's the first experience they had because they didn't know the language and pretty much the only place

they could really go find somebody to hire them would be somebody that could speak to them

in their home language.
