You would then put the View Master up to your eyes like a pair of binoculars.

Now you're looking at crystal clear 3D images.

Every kid that I've ever met in my entire life has had a View Master.

It's almost like a ride a passage.

Since 1939, well that was the year the View Master system was introduced.

Yep, the year of our Lord 1939.

While most current View Master reels are intended for children,

early View Master list of reels featured tourist attractions and travel views like the Grand Canyon or Carl's Bad Cabern.

Most of which were just meant to be of interest to users of all ages.

But they didn't stick with nature scenes for very long.

You see, the View Master produced reels for Disneyland as well as many TV shows like The Flying Nun, Lost in Space and The Monsters.

But they didn't stop there.

They got into cinema films too.

Pictures like The Poseidon Adventure, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and Jurassic Park.

Oh, and did you know that at one point the US military used the View Master for airplane and ship identification?
