School House Rock was a series of educational short films that aired during Saturday morning cartoons on ABC from 1973 all the way to 1984

with subsequent revivals. The idea for Schoolhouse Rock was conceived by David

McCall, an advertising executive who noticed

his son could remember rock song lyrics but struggled with multiplication tables.

McCall's idea led to the creation of the first song, 3 is a magic number, written by Bob Doro.

The positive response to this song inspired the development of the series.

What Schoolhouse Rock did was trick us.

They tricked us by teaching us about multiplication, history, and the differences

between conjunctions and interjections without our even realizing it. Thanks to their
