| 0:25.7 | is going to have a negative impact on your life so the questioning leads sober curious individuals |
| 0:30.9 | into seeking answers and hopefully seeking the help and support they deserve be that getting therapy |
| 0:36.1 | going to aa or just talking to a mate about it like I am now. That's right. It's important to remember we're not only talking to those of you who may be fighting an addiction to alcohol. We're talking really to everyone. So I guess that's why I'm here, Vic. I must be sober curious. Yes, I love it that you're identifying as that, Hamish. You are, and it's really |
| 0:54.2 | wonderful. It means you care enough about yourself, your family and your body to consider |
| 0:58.6 | another way. So why do you think you want to give up drinking, Hamish? Is it because you act like |
| 1:02.6 | a total twat when you're wasted? I've got plenty of twatishness stories to share of the course |
| 1:07.2 | this week. We like a bit of twattery. I know. This is a safe space for twattery. |
| 1:11.0 | It certainly is. |
| 1:11.8 | You've shared more than most. Yeah. But I guess for me, like I said, the main reason is this becoming a new dad. To speak in sort of man language for a second. Right. Okay. Interesting. This is new to me. Well, I've always used to want to be a footballer, right? I grew up once in to be a footballer. Football is like an elite athlete. |
| 1:28.0 | I thought this word elite, I want to be the best of the best. |
| 1:30.9 | I remember thinking... used to want to be a footballer, right? I grew up wanting to be a footballer. Footballer is like an elite athlete. |
| 1:28.0 | I thought this word elite, I want to be the best of the best. I remember thinking, if I was ever a footballer, I would never drink alcohol and I would never, I'd always eat the right things and I'd be the model professional. Yeah. And then you don't become a footballer, right? Yeah. Because I'm not that good at football. And then every other job, you sort of don't give yourself the same standards. |
| 1:45.8 | Okay, right. |
| 1:46.7 | So you're just kind of plodding along because you haven't achieved that original goal. Exactly. And becoming a father, I was like, this is something I really want to be elite at. Okay. Right. I want to be the best possible dad I can be. And I think giving up booze is the least I can do, you know. It's, I don't want to be hung over around a child. And I think becoming a good dad is as much about being a good husband. And again, being hungover is not helpful to my wife, you know. I want to be the best possible husband so that she can be the best possible mum as well. Yeah. So I think that's probably been the biggest driving factor. |
| 2:18.4 | There are other things like, I think it will improve my career. It's obviously a good move for my health. But I guess more than anything, it's kind of a challenge. Can I, can I, can I, is it something I can do? It's breaking the mould. Most people drink, right? Yeah. This is going against the grain. it's always good to set yourself little challenges |
| 2:34.3 | and I think this one is as good as any. |
| 2:36.5 | Yeah, and I think you're against the grain. It's always good to set yourself little challenges, |
| 2:34.5 | and I think this one is as good as any. Yeah, and I think you're in the right place for it. I mean, |
| 2:38.6 | you've got accountability now. You've got to give up drinking, otherwise we're all going to be on your |
