Hello from Washington, I'm Chuck Todd, and this is the Chuck Todd

0:08.6

so as I said in our last podcast I am going to take all of these early poles with a huge huge grain of salt

0:17.5

Most of the pollsters that have come out are the are the online pollsters or the those that do panel surveys of people online

0:28.0

are they're basically polls that really their track record has yet to be proven, but they're cheap to do and you can do them quickly.

0:37.0

I think they can generally get some trends right, but I think the specificity in their numbers is something I'm highly skeptical of

0:44.8

because of these panels it's such some of them are opt in

0:48.4

It's random sample but only within the panel and and there's just a lot of methodological issues that a lot of us have with

1:36.1

the way back to Grover, Cleveland and his sex scandal when he had to admit a child out of

1:39.6

wedlock, Bill Clinton's impeachment, or the access Hollywood tape. These things are never as

1:45.6

impactful as we think they are in the moment. A lot of it will depend on how much

1:52.4

each party decides to make it impactful and I will say this

1:55.2

I am surprised at the comfort that so many elected Republicans particularly ones in

1:59.5

swing states running for re-election how comfortable comfortable they are, hugging Trump on this.

2:05.7

And we're past most of the primary season.
