Hey everybody at all of our different life churches and our network churches and

those of you at church online. We are in the third week of a message series called

Alter Ego based on my newest book Alter Ego, Becoming Who God Says You Are. You

might notice that Alter is spelled A-L-T-A-R and this for the purpose of our

series represents our Alter which throughout history has been a place where the

people of God will come and make a sacrifice to God or they'll lay down

something that's very important to them. Alter Ego of course is what we think

about ourselves. It's our belief system about ourselves. Unfortunately many of

us have a very inaccurate view of who we're supposed to be and so what we're

doing in this message series and the driving thought of the book is we're going

to lay down at the Alter or sacrifice who we think we are so we can become who

God says we are. I want to review where we've been in the past couple of weeks

and tell you where we're going next week so you can kind of prayerfully

prepare your heart. If you're taking notes what we're doing is we're laying

down different parts of our ego. In the first week we laid down our feelings of

inadequacy so we could become who God says we are. Last week by faith we laid

down our need for control. Some of you are still trying to lay down that need

for control because we love to be in control. Today we're going to talk about

laying down our right to be offended because so many of us are so easily

offended and the next week is perhaps what will be the most helpful week for
