0:00.0	Hello there, my name is Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:06.0	Today, Alma 30 and 31.
0:09.0	And these two chapters are, they're an amazingly difficult set of the Book of Mormon history
0:19.0	because what we get is in Alma 30, Corahor coming and teaching
0:24.1	his doctrine and then you get in chapter 31 the Zoramites embodying his doctrine or applying
0:31.8	his doctrine to their daily life. So you see what it looks like when it plays out. So at first past, you may look at these
0:39.3	two chapters and think, wow, I don't want to engage deeply with these because it's kind of
0:45.3	depressing or it's dark or it's heavy. I love the fact that the Book of Mormon becomes more
0:52.5	than just a window to the past, more than just a window
0:56.4	to see other people in faraway places, faraway settings, but it becomes a mirror to our present,
1:04.8	not just our life, but our world today. And the fact is there are a lot of things going on in Elma Chapter 30 where we see
1:15.4	Korahor's teachings, his techniques, and the ways that he's trying to engage people in conversation
1:24.6	to persuade them to change their beliefs to align with his own, that
1:30.8	we see a lot of that happening in our world today. And so consequently, we can learn incredible
1:37.4	lessons about how to recognize doctrines and techniques that seek to drag us down or to turn us away from the Lord,
1:47.0	as well as we get to see Alma the Younger interacting with Korahor and interacting with the Zoramites,
1:55.0	so we see patterns for what we can do to not just be a victim of our circumstance or a victim of our culture,
2:05.6	but rather an agent for good, an active disciple of Christ who can discern these techniques
2:15.6	as they're coming forth and then successfully combat them with the spirit.
2:22.3	And so let's dive in. The concept that there are two little lifelong learning over days
2:31.3	or teaching perspectives that I want to focus on today. The first
2:36.1	one is we've talked before about the power of identifying principles and then further understanding
