| 0:00.0 | On today's episode of real-life pharmacology, we are going to talk about allopurinol, |
| 0:07.7 | and a little bit less specific in general, the Xanthine oxidase inhibitors. |

| 1:29.2 | So if you have a patient presenting to your care with extreme pain, that type of thing, |
| 1:35.1 | giving them, prescribing them, if they've got a prescription for allopurinol, |
| 1:40.1 | that's not going to solve the acute pain of the acute gout flare. |
| 1:47.0 | Very, very important to remember that. |
| 1:49.8 | For acute flares, we use medications like inseds and prednisone, possibly colchazine as well. |
| 1:56.7 | So very, very important to remember that allopurinol will not treat that acute gout flare. |
